Thank you for being tree
August 27th, 2011
As I walked through the woods today and came upon elder trees that had fallen across my path I said, "Thank you tree. Thank you for being a part of this earth long before I was born. Thank you for taking in what we exhale and changing it back to sacred air. Thank you for catching the rain in your leaves and slowly returning the water to the earth. Thank you for shading the ground. Thank you for all this and more. Thank you for being tree!"
Walking further, I stopped and looked up at the sky through the tree branches. I said, "Thank you tree for being the musical instrument that plays beautiful sounds when Gaia, Mother Earth, blows her breath through your leaves. Thank you Gaia for your cooling breath against my sweaty brow."
